Twilight the Sorcerer Apprentice

Description

My favorite short from Disney's Fantasia was always "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."  I was drawing some ponies, while watching Fantasia, and the Image of Twilight Sparkle dressed as Mickey Mouse popped into my head.  I couldn't shake the mental picture, so I knew I had to draw her.  I really went outside my comfort zone, with all the scenery, showing that I really need to work on my ability to draw backgrounds.  Regardless, I had fun on this little cross-over project.

I think Twilight might have been good friends with Mickey while he was studying under Yensid.

Wow, this is really nice fan art! Finding good artists for fan art takes a quite a while before you see the good ones. After all, no one's perfect, no?

The vision went off perfect! You capture Twilight's character and merge it with the naive happiness of the apprentice in this artwork!

The originality was also quite good! It's hard to think of something that no one (or very few) have thought of. I kicked off half a star because you could've done to make it more of your style, but honestly, I'm having an inner battle on whether it's better that you just substituted Mickey with Twilight or have your own interpretation of a scene like that.

You mixed traditional art with digital art, right? It was done quite nicely. The traditional part in particular was excellent. You did the style of Lauren Faust well, although your shading seems too light. However, your background needs improvement. The planets look generic and somewhat flat. Well, not flat, but unrealistic. The waves were wonderful! (I can't do that well when it comes to waves) The waves are pretty good for something out of your comfort zone, although they also need work to become as good as possible. The rocks were nice, but they're quite unrealistic compared to the waves.

Impact... Hmmmm... Well, it looks very well and it draws attention (particularly to bronies and pegasisters) but the artwork is lacking some depth. And when I judge the impact of an artwork, depth is one of the major factors of impact.

Overall, the work was wonderful. I cannot imagine giving any less than four stars on here. I wish to see your art again one day and I do hope that I will be absolutely impressed, more than I was today. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
